CANDOLIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) officials on Thursday morning will hold a site inspection of alleged development works carried out in violation of the CRZ rules at the Candolim beach. The issue was pointed out to the GCZMA by a local via a complaint on September 27.
The works are allegedly carried out in the CRZ-III area or rather No Development Zone (NDZ) on the beach at Candolim, close to the new car parking area.
The complainant and local Roshan Mathias alleged that the work is carried out in the No Development Zone on Candolim beach.
“In survey number 146, development works or rather destruction of the beach is being carried out. The said location comes under NDZ area and hence I made a written complaint to GCZMA couple of days ago. They have put all green netting around that area now and partially buried all the area they had earlier dug up,” he alleged.
The NDZ is 200 metres from the HTL and only temporary structures are permitted.
