Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief Vijai Sardesai said the party is deliberately taking a cautious approach to major political decisions during the ongoing Mhal (म्हाळ) period.
Sardesai said that, according to Hindu tradition, major steps are generally avoided during this period. He said the party did not want its decisions to invite questions over why they were taken during Mhal.

He also pointed out that there is still time before the elections and said the party is proceeding carefully to avoid making mistakes.
Sardesai’s remarks come as political parties in Goa begin preparing for the upcoming electoral contest, with discussions over alliances, candidates and other political strategies expected to gather pace in the coming months.
