Goa Police conducted its first-ever cyber crime awareness programmes outside Goa at the Naval Base in Karwar, Karnataka, reaching around 850 Indian Navy personnel and their family members.
The first programme was organised for approximately 500 Navy officers serving onboard INS Vikramaditya at the Karwar Naval Base, following a request from the ship’s Commanding Officer.

A second programme was conducted for around 350 Navy officers and their family members at the request of the Commanding Officer, Headquarters, Karwar Naval Base.
Both sessions included hands-on training and focused on cyber crime and cyber security in India. Participants were briefed about various types of cyber scams, their modus operandi, preventive measures, cyber safety practices and mechanisms for reporting cyber crimes.
The sessions also covered the 1930 Cyber Helpline, along with the GRM and MRM modules used for cyber crime reporting and response.
The programmes were highly interactive, with participants raising practical questions and receiving guidance from the Goa Police team during the sessions.
According to the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ribandar, the programmes mark an important step in Goa Police’s efforts to extend cyber awareness and safety education beyond the state, particularly among personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and their families.
