Goa Police have lost four officials in last three months, including a sub inspector who was knocked down by a truck driver while on duty.

PANJIM: Goa Police have lost four officials in last three months, including a sub inspector who was knocked down by a truck driver while on duty. 

The department’s third issue of the quarterly News Letter has published obituary of police inspector Bhanudas Desai, sub inspector Abhishek Gomes, head constable Raghu Dabolkar and Constable Raghu Sawant.  

Desai, 49, who was posted at Economic Offences Wing suffered a fatal heart stroke in the wee hours of February 21-22. 

PSI Gomes was allegedly knocked down by a speeding interstate goods carrier at Bethora on the Curti-Borim bypass road, early March 17 morning. The officer, who was posted at Ponda Traffic Cell, had sustained grievous injuries, including a torn leg, succumbed at GMC while undergoing treatment.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had directed that murder charges and other offences under IPC and MV Act be registered against the Punjabi driver Amarjeet Singh. 

Sawant, a wireless messenger at Ponda wireless station died on December 26, 2012 while Dabolkar who was posted at Motor Transport of Goa Police died on January 27, 2013.
