Govt benefits not reaching small farmers: Khaunte

PORVORIM: Porvorim legislator Rohan Khaunte stated that though the state government boasts of launching several agricultural schemes, marginal farmers are not getting the benefit of the schemes due to the tedious procedure involved.

PORVORIM: Porvorim legislator Rohan Khaunte stated that though the state government boasts of launching several agricultural schemes, marginal farmers are not getting  the benefit of the schemes due to the tedious procedure involved.
He was speaking after inaugurating Krishi Melava organised by ZAO Mapusa, in association with Porvorim Yuva Welfare Trust at Porvorim.
Khaunte further said the government should devise simple and time-bound procedure by which marginal farmers can avail agricultural schemes without much difficulty.”
Director of Agriculture Prajapati Toofani stated that the State government has devised various schemes for farmers through which subsidies to the extent of 75% to 90% are being offered to farmers to purchase agricultural machines, tractors, etc.
Earlier, Khaunte inaugurated the Melava. Horticulture officer Nelson Figredo, NABARD officer Gopal Kumar explained various schemes . Later, Khaunte distributed Krushi cards.
