Govt hires firm to audit all bridges

PANJIM: Following the bridge tragedy in Curchorem last month, the State government has decided to hire a consultancy firm to conduct a safety audit of bridges in the State.

PANJIM: Following the bridge tragedy in Curchorem last month, the State government has decided to hire a consultancy firm to conduct a safety audit of bridges in the State. 
Speaking to the media at Old Goa, PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhawalikar said, “We have hired a consultancy firm at the cost of Rs 2.30 crore to conduct a safety audit of all the bridges.”  
He said the consultant will also audit bridges constructed during the Portuguese era. He said the consultancy firm would be awarded the work within a month and they will have to conduct the audit within a year. “Bridges which are in poor condition would be taken up for repairs on priority by PWD,” he said.
