Comunidades remain firm, say no to regularization

MARGAO: The fate of the illegal structures atop the Moti Dongor and adjoining Talsanzor hangs in balance as the Administrator of Comunidades, South, on Tuesday completed hearing of the petitions of the beleaguered residents for regularisation of their structures atop the hillock.
Comunidade administrator Sangeeta Naik has reserved her orders and she is expected to pronounce her verdict within a fortnight.
While the residents of both Moti Dongor and Talsanzor have called for regularisation of their structures, the plea has come under strong objection from the local Comunidade bodies.
While Margao Comunidade have firmly opposed regularisation of any structures dotting on the land spread across Talsanzor, the Aquem Comunidade will formally submit their petition calling for the demolition of all structures atop Moti Dongor.
Says Aquem Comunidade Special Attorney Celestin Noronha: “Both the Aquem as well as Margao Comunidades are opposed to any regularisation of the illegal structures. We are of the firm opinion that all illegal structures on both Moti Dongor and Talsanzor should be razed down and the land cleared of all illegalities.”
On the other hand, Camilo Barretto, who was a petitioner in the writ petition filed in the High Court to protect the structures at Talsanzor, said the residents have knocked the doors of the Comunidade Administrator besides other authorities to save the structures. “We were given an audience by the deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Francis D’Souza when we approached him with our plea. The residents are confident that they will be given justice. The residents had approached the Comunidades Administrator years ago for regularisation, but there’s no response till date,” he added.
The Administrator of Comunidades had initiated the process against the structures atop Moti Dongor and Talsanzor after the government gave an undertaking to the High Court to conduct survey on the land in question and raze down the structures following a petition filed by Mumbai-based lawyer, Adv Sanjeev Punalykar.
