MARGAO, APRIL 22
The Hospicio authorities and members of the Hospital Visiting Committee will meet on Friday to take stock of the situation arising out of the theft of a lady patient in the maternity ward by a miscreant posing as a doctor earlier this week.
Hospicio Visiting Team Dr Dilip Hegde said the meeting will discuss ways and means to avoid repetition of such incidents in the future, even as he said that the hospital authorities have left it for the police to investigate the case and bring the culprit to book.
“Our information suggestions that such type of incidents is often taking place in hospitals in neighbouring Karnataka”, he said.
Replying to a question, Dr Hegde said Hospicio had recently extended the time for the visitors from 3.30 pm to 8 pm on a daily basis to facilitate people from long distances to come and inquiry the health of their relatives admitted in the hospital.
Expressing shock over the incident, wherein the miscreant posing as doctor relieved the lady patient of her mangalsutra worth Rs 55,000, Dr Hegde said the hospital had recently recruited 45 new nurses.
adding that doctors from the GMC also regularly visit the hospital every week, making it difficult for the hospital doctors to maintain a constant check on the identity of the medical staff.
