MAPUSA: Extending its support to the silent agitation against mixopathy, the executive committee of IMA Bardez has expressed its solidarity with the National IMA executive which has taken the initiative to oppose the unscientific proposal moved to allow Ayush post graduates to perform 58 surgeries.
Dr Sophia Rodriguez, IMA Bardez president said, “The Indian Medical Association with all the doctors of modern medicine in the country will make this agitation more aggressive. IMA will educate people of the country against the unsafe and unprofessional myelopathy”.

Dr Sandip Naik, a practicing surgeon said, “It takes five years to learn the basics of surgery and another five years to start handling complications. It is not going to be easy for anyone who will be suddenly pushed into this field and start handling the surgeries but the way the government is pushing this forward, it is going to only make the practice more complicated and more dangerous for people to undergo surgeries by untrained persons”.
“We are not opposing any of the other ways of line of medicine but when there is no basic training of surgery in these streams, nobody can take up surgeries at higher level. It will lead to more complications and overloading medical strain and the public at large”, Dr Naik cautioned.
