IMD warns of low pressure formation in Arabian Sea

VASCO: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued warning of a likely low pressure formation over the Southeast Arabian Sea.

In view of the same, the Indian Coast Guard has initiated some preventive measures such as maintaining ships on standby notice to meet any eventualities.

The surveillance aircrafts are also geared up for augmenting SAR efforts. Ships at sea have been asked to relay the weather advisory to the fishermen at sea. If need be fishing boats should be shepherded to nearest harbours.  

Furthermore, the weather advisory has concurrently been shared with all stakeholders and Directorate of Fisheries advising recall of all fishing boats ventured at sea including country boats. Port authorities are also advised for safe operation of coastal vessels/ MSVs.

The electronic surveillance has been amplified from ICG Remote Operating Station and VHF alerting is being done.
