Kadamba Transport Corporation drivers have raised strong concerns over unequal pay, demanding parity between electric bus (EV) drivers and their counterparts operating conventional buses. Addressing a press conference, union leaders Christopher Fonseca and Chandrakant Chodankar highlighted the significant wage gap.
While regular Kadamba drivers reportedly earn around ₹40,000 per month, EV drivers—who perform the same duties—receive only ₹18,000. “This is a clear case of discrimination and exploitation,” said union president Chodankar.

The union has given the government a deadline of September 30 to address their demands. “If the issue is not resolved by then, we will be forced to take to the streets,” Chodankar warned, indicating that a road protest will be launched if no action is taken.
The drivers have urged the Kadamba management and the state government to ensure equal pay for equal work, in keeping with labour rights and fair employment practices.
