MAYEM: Residents of Kerim have petitioned the Keri Panchayat to convene a special gram sabha to discuss the quality of water from the 2-MLD water treatment plant, which was installed two months ago to solve water shortage experienced in the village for many months now. .
In a memorandum signed by about 50 villagers, the residents complained that they receive turbid water which has a strong and foul odour. They also demanded that the special gram sabha should also discuss frequent power cuts and the oower fluctuations that have hit the village recently.
Social worker, Vishnu Parodkar, said the PWD authorities should clarify over improper water supply to the villagers and explain the reason for the turbid water that comes in their taps, while another villager, Chandrakant Parab, said the time had come to fight to get basic requirements from the authorities.
Villagers have also called upon Power Minister Milind Naik to look into the problem of frequent power cuts and undertake concrete measures to solve it.
