CANACONA: Canacona police arrested a driver of a KTC bus proceeding from Margao to Gokarna for drunk driving under the Motor Vehicles Act.
According to Canacona police, they got a call from the Margao Control Room that a KTC bus bearing registration No GA-03-X-0144 proceeding to Gokarna from Margao is being allegedly driven by a driver who appears to be drunk.
On receiving the information, the police intercepted the bus at Canacona KTC bus stand and the traffic officials were requested to check for the alcohol content of the driver via Alcometer.
Following the test, the bus driver one Suresh Appannawar was found to be under the influence of alcohol exceeding 30 mg per 100 ml in his blood.
He was arrested under Section 185 of M V Act and later released after furnishing a surety. Suresh was replaced by another driver arranged by KTC from Margao depot.
