COLLEM, JULY 21 A 42-year-old man from Kumbarmal-Collem drowned in the Dudhsagar River near Malikeshwar Temple at Metawada-Collem late Tuesday evening.

A 42-year-old man from Kumbarmal-Collem drowned in the Dudhsagar River near Malikeshwar Temple at Metawada-Collem late Tuesday evening.
According to Collem Police PI Manoj Mardolkar, Vishnu Narayan Matnekar had left his house at about 2.30 pm on Tuesday along with the fishing net, which he laid at the Dudhsagar River.
After the net was laid, Vishnu returned to his house and at about 6 pm, he again went to the site to see if any fish had been caught in the net.
However, on Wednesday at about 9.15 am after Collem Police was informed about Vishnu’s body was found floating in the river, police rushed to the site and fished out the body with the help of one local Diniz Andrade. Police have sent the body to GMC Hospital in Bambolim for autopsy.
It is learnt that the deceased had consumed some alcohol before going for fishing.
Police have found the fishing net and slippers near the site of incident. Police said the deceased might have slipped and fell into the river. Doctors’ report stated that the deceased died due to drowning in the water.
