Mango vendor detained for obstructing traffic

MARGAO: A mango vendor Marlon Fernandes was detained on Sunday and his car was seized for selling mangoes, which according to Margao police caused obstruction to traffic. 
According to Fernandes, when he was selling mangoes after parking his car in a private property at around 1 pm on Sunday, two woman police officers came over to him and one of them, PSI Kavita Rawat snatched his mobile and took him to the police station. 
ASI Rajaram Talekar who registered the case informed Herald that Fernandes was obstructing traffic by doing business of selling mangoes on the road. When asked whether Fernandes had parked his car on the road or inside a private property, Talekar said that he didn’t check it. He said the people who stop to buy his mangoes obstruct the road.
When pointed out that Fernandes had parked his car inside a private property when it was seized, Margao SDPO Dinraj Goekar said, “Let him challenge it in court.”
