PONDA: Marcaim MLA and former PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar criticised the State government for its contradictory statements on Goa’s financial status.
Dhavalikar said, “On Goa Statehood Day, the State government through its articles released in newspapers are claiming that Goa’s financial condition has been improving under leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led government, while at the same time in recent GST Council meeting Transport Minister Mauvin Godhino demanded premature release of GST fund for Goa.”
He questioned, “If financial status is improving then why the State government is begging for premature GST fund.”
Stating that the Chief Minister should represent GST Council meeting, he said that when former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was ill, Mauvin was put on the Committee but later Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should have taken the appointment back.
He criticised the government for cancelling SSCE examinations asking what is the future for these students, who are first time passing out without any exams upto Class X.
He said, “Already there is a policy to promote upto Class VIII. Last year, the Class IX students were promoted to Class X on account of pandemic and now the same students are passing out without exams for SSCE.”
