MARGAO: Seven retired workers of the Margao municipality have threatened a fast unto death protest if their provident fund is not paid within a month from Thursday.
These seven workers have been agitating, since long, for payment of their provident fund.
On Thursday, the workers met Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik and reminded him of the promise of MMC in helping them in getting their provident fund.
“We are not responsible for release of provident funds, but we will invite the PF officials to MMC to resolve the matter,” Siddhivinayak Naik assured.
In March this year, these seven retired workers had launched a protest outside the MMC, but they called off the same after Chairwoman Dr Babita Angle assured to help them in getting their provident fund.
The MMC had earlier clarified that all the due process at their end was completed and that it was for the Employees Provident Fund Organisation to release the fund of the employees.
