Moira panchayat stops illegal construction on comunidade land

MOIRA: Acting on the complaint made by a resident of Nachinola, the Moira panchayat stopped the ongoing alleged illegal construction work being carried out in a communidade field in survey number 126/8 at Novo Portugal in Moira on Wednesday.
A site inspection was carried out by the Moira Sarpanch, Riya Belekar along with Deputy Sarpanch, Oswald Cordeiro in the presence of panchayat Secretary, Smita Parab; Talathi, Gaurish Naik and the local panch member Sadanand Raul. 
During the inspection it was found that someone who was not a tenant of the said property was carrying out construction in it and did not have proper permissions. He was directed to stop the work and demolish the laterite structure constructed.
The panchayat also issued a notice to the person carrying out the work asking him to produce all valid documents and permissions taken to carry out the construction within three days. Failing to furnish the same, further action will be initiated against him under the Goa Panchayati Raj Act 1994.
The Deputy Sarpanch Oswald Cordeiro informed that the person carrying out the construction work illegally and he was not even the tenant of the property. “We had received a complaint on Tuesday and hence we arranged for a site inspection. The person carrying out the work illegally admitted that he does not have proper permission and hence we directed him to demolish the construction. Once he gets the proper permission he can undertake the work after appearing with the same at the panchayat,” he said.
On Tuesday, a written complaint was submitted to the office of the Moira Village Panchayat by a resident of Nachinola, Jonita Fernandes regarding the alleged illegal construction.
