MARGAO: There’s good news in store for Konkani lovers and writers on the literary front.
The National Book Trust (NBT) has not only decided to translate in Konkani several titles published by the Trust, but also bring out monograph in Konkani on legendary Indian cartoonist Mario Miranda, first chief minister of Goa, Dayanand Bandodkar and Vasudev Gaitonde, world renowned painter of Goa.
A member of NBT language advisory Board, Prashant Naik further said that it has been decided to bring out a small booklet on Goa defining its history, culture, people, etc, for the use of school students across the country.
Addressing the media, Naik said that the Core Committee of the language (Konkani) advisory Committee of the National Book Trust, consisting of Goa Konkani Academy, Pundalik Naik, representative of Konkani at Sahitya Academy Tanaji Halarnkar and President of Konkani Bhasha Mandal Chetan Acharya met on July 24 and took several decisions. “Besides deciding to translate in Konkani several titles published by NBT in different Indian languages.
