It may be recalled that the road divider on the busy four-lane NH17-B near Dabolim airport was left open by the contractor carrying out grade separator work. Taking benefit of the same, motorists, especially taxi drivers, who earlier took U-turns near Ganesh Temple at Shantinagar, had started using the open passage on the road divider to take a U-turn, thereby putting commuters’ lives at risk.
“As assured to Herald, we had asked the NHAI to immediately seal the opening in the divider, and I am happy that the work is completed,” a Vasco traffic official told Herald.
