PANJIM/MARGAO: In yet another big boost to the Goa Trinamool Congress ahead of party president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Goa visit, the entire block level leadership of the Indian National Congress, including President Conceicao Peixote and over 170 workers, joined the Goa TMC in the presence of TMC National Vice President Luizinho Faleiro at the latter’s residence in Navelim on Saturday.
In a scathing attack on the Central BJP leadership, Faleiro said, “Democracy in India is under threat and attempts are being made to polarise the country. A change, and a credible one at that, is the need of the hour. The Opposition has to come together. This can only happen under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.”

Speaking about his own future, Faleiro said it is up to the people to decide whether he should contest or not but added that he is holding back his plans to retire as Goa is suffering at the moment.
He further resolved to not retire from active politics and keep working for the people until his dream to see Goa prosper is achieved.
Faleiro also appealed to the public not to fall for the false promises of the B team of BJP.
Earlier in the evening, the programme included the official induction of workers into TMC. This included Conceicao Peixoto, who held the position of the president of Navelim Block of Congress since 1996; Rolt Coutinho, former Navelim Block Youth Congress president; Bobby Mathur, former All Goa Minority vice president; Zacavias Goes, former district vice president and former Telaulim sarpanch and Azmat Shaikh, former Navelim BJP Minority Cell vice president.
Simultaneously, at the party office in Panjim, prominent civil society members including a doctor, three dynamic social activists and a senior Congressman from St Cruz joined the party in the presence of West Bengal Minister of State Manas Ranjan Bhunia and Goa Trinamool Congress leaders Yatish Naik and Mario Pinto.
Elsewhere, in another major event in Sanguem, over 150 people including the Sarpanch and four panchas of Molcornem Village Panchayat joined the party in the presence of TMC’s Parliamentary leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien and independent MLA from Sanguem Prasad Gaonkar.
Vincent Fernandes from Santa Cruz joined the party. Goa Trinamool Congress is proud to induct prominent grassroots leaders in the party who will play a pivotal role in rebuilding Goa and ushering in a ‘New Dawn’.
