CANACONA: Irked over the alleged unusual behaviour of a teacher of Government Primary School (GPS), Sristhal and the authorities’ failure to take action, the parents and their wards on Monday staged a dharna in front of the school.
The parents dispersed following an assurance from the Deputy Director of Education that the teacher will be replaced in a couple of days.
Sristhal panch Rajesh Velip said the parents had served an ultimatum on the authorities that if the teacher was not replaced by Saturday they would sit on a dharna in front of the school.
Around 30 parents and students sat in front of the school on Monday, a police team arrived at the spot to maintain law and order.
The parents later allowed their wards to attend classes following an assurance from Deputy Director of Education Uday Gaonkar that the teacher would be transferred and replaced by another in a couple of days.
ADEI was also present.
