MARGAO: Private Property Shacks and Huts Owners Association has petitioned the government to come out with a single-window system for granting clearances for shacks.
Addressing a press conference, Association president Dharmesh Saglani thanked Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar and Tourism Director Nikhil Desai for addressing their long-pending demand for deck beds for shacks in private properties.
He, however, said that a host of issues plaguing the private shack owners have been put forth before the Chief Minister, who has promised to work out a solution in the near future. “We have asked for single-window clearance system for all requisite NOCs for erection of temporary shacks/huts in private properties. All the NOCs should be granted as per law by September 15 every year,” he said, adding that the NOC could be issued for a period of 3-5 years by taking one-time fees and by imposing necessary conditions.
Replying to a question, Saglani said that the tourism season this year was down by 30 per cent, adding places such as Kerala and Thailand have done better than Goa.
He said the government should tone up the infrastructure in the state and work out a lasting solution for the garbage problem to woo tourists.
