District SPs and SP Traffic will daily select a person who has done good work and sanction a reward of Rs 1,100 and a commendation,” reads a press statement circulated by Superintendent of Police Shobhit Saxena on Monday.

The police personnel have been ensuring a successful lockdown and maintaining social distancing at shops and other institutions such as banks, cooperative stores, fair price shops among other places where accessibility has been allowed by the government during this period.

The personnel are also deployed at border check posts to prevent entry of unauthorised people.

“The police personnel are also assisting Health Department staff in contact tracing and surveillance over home quarantined. They are also reaching out to vulnerable sections of people such as senior citizens, labourers and other people in distress unmindful of the plight of their own families. While Goa remains indoors, the cops are braving the sun. Any outstanding work would also be rewarded by the DIGs and IGP,” the release further states.
