VASCO: The date for Environmental Public Hearing for the proposed development of fishing jetty, passenger jetty multipurpose general cargo berths and POL terminal at Mormugao Port have been announced. The hearing will be conducted by the Goa State Pollution Control Board on October 5, at 10.30 am at Chicalim ground.
The hearing is being conducted to ascertain the concerns of the affected persons. The District Magistrate or his representative assisted by a representative of the State Pollution Control Board will supervise and preside over the hearing. The proceedings will be sent to the Ministry of Environment for further action in the matter.
The MPT has earlier speaking to some press and media claimed that they will retain its existing jetty while using the proposed one for clean cargo and cruises. The MPT Chairman I Jeyakumar had also maintained the POL may be an option and may not be used for it.
