PANJIM: Following the High Court directions, the Department of tourism has invited applications for erection of 346 temporary seasonal structures such as beach shacks, huts and others on identify beach stretches for the years 2019-2022.
A public notice issued in newspapers say, “applications along with affidavit and other requisite documents as per applicable terms and conditions as per Tourism policy 2019-22 are invited from eligible applicants and individuals. Terms and conditions and other details regarding the same are available on the official website of tourism department www.goatourism.gov.in for information of the prospective shack applicants and general public.”
Further, it says, the application forms are to be submitted to the Registration Facilitation Centre at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto and Mathany Saldanha Complex, Margao from October 5 to October 15 up to 5 pm.
Date of draw of lots for shack applicants and selection of places and locations will be held on October 22 from 11 am onwards at Panjim and Margao.
A total of 346 stacks will be allotted to shack operators for a period of 3 years, of which 238 are in North Goa while 108 are in South Goa. Fifty per cent of shacks are to be allotted to applicants with experience of 10 years and above, 40% shacks will go to applicants with experience of 5 to 9 years while 10% shacks will be allotted to
applicants with experience of less than 5 years and also those without any prior experience.
“Applicants may note that the number of shacks may vary as per ground conditions, GCZMA directions, Forest Department approval as well as other public interest concerns,” states the public notice issued by Tourism Dept.
