The promise was made by a team of engineers and a supervisor during their inspection of the Western Bypass road site at Nuvem and who were called on by the villagers for submitting a memorandum demanding a detailed presentation of the entire plan of the road for a complete understanding.
The PWD team consisted of Assistant Engineer P M Naik, Junior Engineer S L Pagui and Field Surveyor V Prabhugaonkar.
As the PWD team was inspecting the site, local villagers arrived at the spot, stopped the contractor from carrying out the road work and submitted their memorandum to the officials.
During the meeting, the villagers sought to know from the PWD officials whether they had any plan for connecting the villages which would be divided once the Western Bypass is constructed and how would they tackle flooding in the area.
“Since the villages will be divided and large scale land filling, we want to know whether there would be flyovers, subways or ring roads to connect the divided villages,” said Jose Roque Andrade.
