MARGAO: Tension rent the air at the Hospicio on Monday evening as angry relatives and residents of Curtorim agitated at the hospital demanding justice for 19-year-old girl Sabina Hilario who died on Sunday noon under mysterious circumstances. The residents refused to leave the hospital premises demanding the immediate arrest of Roy Fernandes in connection with Sabina’s death and the suspension of ASI Deu attached to the Maina-Curtorim police station. They also demanded a second post mortem examination since the autopsy conducted Monday reserved opinion on the exact cause of death of the young girl.
The residents questioned the presence of ASI Deu at the mortuary at the time of post mortem examination though he was off duty and demanded his suspension. What agitated the residents was that ASI Deu told them to take possession of Sabina’s body and that the post mortem report would be given to them after three months. They demanded that ASI Deu be produced before them to explain his presence at the hospital at the time of the post mortem examination and his rude remarks at the residents.
Plea by Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco to the residents to discuss Deu’s issue in the office of the District Superintendent of Police, South Arvind Gawas was rejected by the agitating residents, who demanded that the ASI be produced before them.
Suspecting foul play behind Sabina’s death, they demanded the arrest of Roy Fernandes in connection with her death. They demanded to know why Sabina’s family was not informed throughout Sunday morning if she was found vomiting after the late night New Year party at Roy’s place in Curtorim and further sought to know why her family was informed about the incident only after her death at Hospicio around Sunday noon.
At around 10 pm, the residents marched to the Maina-Curtorim police station from Hospicio, where they lodged a complaint against ASI Deu demanding his suspension.
