PORVORIM: The Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar on Wednesday took serious note on part of the government departments’ failure to furnish the required information to the questions tabled by the legislators on the floor of the House.

The note was taken after opposition MLAs pointed out that several of the questions, tabled by them, were either left unanswered by the concerned departments or transferred.
The Speaker directed the Secretary Legislative to issue necessary directions to the government departmental heads, over failure on the part of the officer concerned to furnish required information to the Questions.
The issue was raised by MGP MLA Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, who highlighted that their questions are left or transferred without furnishing any answers.
Khaunte pointed out that each legislator is allowed to table three starred and 15 unstarred questions. “If answers to these questions are not furnished, then what is the point in holding the Assembly session,” he said.
The Porvorim MLA requested the Speaker to issue necessary directions to hold the officers accountable.
