MAPUSA: The residents of Thivim have opposed construction of a hot-mixing plant in residential area in the village.
The residents say that the hot-mixing plant has been proposed without first consulting with and obtaining their consent. According to the locals the project is a health hazard, therefore, they oppose its construction in a residential area of the village.
They claimed that the project has received temporary permission from the panchayat but the residents were not informed of the same.
“This project will create Dicarbonite and the degree of the hot mix will be very high which will pollute the air and cause health hazard to the locals,” said a villager.
The villagers demand that the project be moved out of residential area.
