PONDA: Dharbandora and Sanvordem Sesa Goa truck owners’ associations on Sunday demanded a hike of Rs 26 per tonne per km for transporting e-auctioned ore failing which they have threatened to stop ore transportation.
The members of the associations held joint meeting at Sateri Pisani Temple, Kalsai Dharbandora to discuss in hike in e-auctioned ore transportation rates and seek an appointment with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on future of mining in the State.

Addressing to media persons, Balaji Gawas said truck owners want a hike of Rs 26 per tonne per km for transporting e-auctioned ore and they would not transport the ore until their demand is fulfilled.
He claimed that old rates are not affordable due to rising cost of diesel and truck maintenance. The old rates were fixed by government five years ago at Rs 12.33 and at that time the diesel rate was Rs 52 per litre. At present the diesel rate is Rs 78 per litre, hence old rates are not acceptable.
He said PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar has assured to support the truck owners’ demand. Truck owners from six panchayats were present for meeting.
