Visiting boards formed for Colvale, Sada jails

PANJIM: The State government has constituted two committees of the Board of Visitors for the New Modern Jail at Colvale and Sub-Jail at Sada, Vasco. The separate committees, with same members, comprise MLA Alina Saldanha as women representative, MLAs Pravin Zantye, Nilkanth Halarnkar and Dayanand Sopte, Chairperson of Goa State Women’s Commission and social worker Suhasini Prabhugaonkar. 
In the notification issued by the Home Department, the tenure of non-official visitors will be of two years and of the Members of Goa State Legislative Assembly shall be one year or till the member ceases to be a Member of Goa Legislative Assembly, whichever is earlier. 
The government has also appointed Ex-Officio Visitors for both the jails with District & Sessions Judge as its Chairman. The other members include District Magistrate, Director General of Police,  Superintendent of Police, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, Altinho, Director of Handicrafts and Textile, Director of Agriculture, Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Director of Education, Director of Social Welfare, Director of Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behaviour, and Director of Health Services.
