Seasonal rainfall since June 1 is 97.4 mm. But it is 50 mm below normal; expected to pick up momentum

PANJIM: The Southwest monsoon has picked up momentum four days after it entered the State with 85.5 mm rainfall recorded from Friday morning to Saturday evening.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in most parts of Goa with very heavy rainfall in isolated places in the State.
While there is no port warning, fishermen have been advised against entering the sea on account of high-intensity winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph.
Canacona received the highest rainfall recording 91.6 mm rain, followed by Pernem (75.8 mm). Ponda and Quepem received aroud 60 mm rainfall, while other talukas received upto 40 mm.
There were isolated incidents of trees falling wherein fire and emergency services department personnel were summoned.
The State also witnessed a maximum temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius and minimum of 22.5 degrees Celsius which were both three degrees below normal.
The total seasonal rainfall since June 1 is 97.4 mm which is nearly 50 mm below the normal rainfall expected.
The monsoon arrived in the state on June 3, according to the State IMD, but there was no rain during the first three days i.e. until Friday night.
