PANJIM: A young woman from Taleigao has filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station, Panjim, against one Estonio Almeida for harassing her on social media.
According to the complainant, the accused has been harassing her on Facebook and WhatsApp since the last seven years despite repeated requests to refrain from following or harassing her.
The complainant has alleged that the accused, who is unknown to her, has tried to befriend her through the social media platform and has been sending personal messages to which she has objected and threatened.
She has stated that on June 23, she uploaded on Facebook the screenshots of the messages he accused sent her on WhatsApp and many other women confided to her that the Estonio has been harassing them too.
The complainant in a video has claimed that Facebook removed her post stating that the content was improper. In the same video, the complainant has made a plea to all the women harassed by Estonio, to file complaints against him.
Police have registered an FIR against Estonio Almeida under sections 364 (A) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.
