VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council has got Administrative approval for works worth around Rs 7 crore.
These works were proposed under the 14th Finance Commission grants. Works ranging from toilets, transfer stations and others will now be tendered and will cover all 25 wards of the municipality.
The MMC on Wednesday got administrative approval for works worth Rs 7,94,36,382 under Fourteenth Finance Commission grants.
The municipality will undertake development works in all the 25 wards. The works of construction of transfer stations for housing of Municipal Solid Waste 240 litres dustbins at various places in the town would be taken up.
Reconstruction of existing septic tanks and soak pits in Ward 21; repairs work of Municipal Solid Waste site at Headland Sada; erections of shed for setting up of sorting station near MMC toilet at Adarshnagar; cleaning of drains at various places; providing interlocking paving stones; construction of footpaths and gutters, improvement of roads and open spaces etc will be undertaken.
These are basic grants for urban local bodies recommended by 14th Finance Commission to support and strengthen the delivery of basic civic services including water supply, sanitation, including septic management, sewage and solid waste management.
“Another Rs 3.5 crore estimates have been prepared and sent to technical sanction of GSUDA. Tendering process will be shortly done,” Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes said.
