Panjim residents to get free dustbins

PANJIM: As part of a major drive to make the capital Panjim a clean city, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is distributing around 30,000 dustbins – two dustbins each to household and commercial establishment in the city – to collect dry and wet garbage separately.

Goa State Urban Development Corporation (GSUDA) has handed over 30,000 black and green dustbins of 10 litres and 20 litres to CCP, which will be distributed to Panjimites free of cost. Residents will have to produce the receipt of house tax paid to the corporation to avail the benefits.
Panjim MLA Siddharth Kuncolienkar on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of dustbins to the residents.  On an average, 300 dustbins would be distributed a day.
CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado said, “The move is towards making the city garbage free. The dustbins will also help citizens to properly segregate waste.”
