MERCES: Stating that her team had found no evidence whatsoever of any
illegal hill-cutting activity for a project at Curca, flying squad in-charge and deputy collector Sheru Shirodkar informed Herald that that she has no further role to play in the issue.
It may be recalled that Herald had reported that a flying squad had inspected the site at Curca following an “oral complaint” from a few villagers in June.
“My team observed that it was only surface cutting and there was no involvement of hill-cutting at the site,” said Shirodkar, adding that the developer had produced all the necessary licences for the project.
She clarified that her role comes into play only when there is evidence of hill-cutting activity beyond permissible limits.
Meanwhile, the local developer has complained that he was being unnecessarily harassed by vested interests in the village despite possessing all documents like conversion sanad, construction licence from the Curca panchayat, licence from the Town and Country Planning department and all other permissions. The sarpanch of Curca Panchayat too confirmed that the panchayat had given all clearances to the owner of the land after the High Court of Bombay at Goa had dismissed, with costs, the petition against him.
“I have permission from the TCP which is valid till April 14, 2014,” the land owner further stated through his legal representatives and said there were attempts malign his name and reputation by some villagers out to harass, intimidate and prevent him from conducting entirely legal activity on his property.
