The post mortem report of Simija Kumar’s death stated that she was murdered, before he committed suicide in his flat at Shantinagar-Porvorim on Wednesday.
It may be recalled that Dilip Kumar, who was working with a computer company in Porvorim, had committed suicide on August 11 by hanging himself to the fan. His wife Simija was also found dead in the bedroom.
The post mortem received by Bardez Dy Collector stated: ‘death of Simija Kumar has occurred due to Asphyxia as a result of smothering and strangulation.’
Porvorim Police PI Devendra Gad said based on the post mortem report, they suspect that Dilip may have murdered his wife.
“While investigating into the matter, police found the ‘Odni’ around Simija’s neck. Since the couple was married barely 8 months ago, the enquiry is being conducted by Bardez Dy Collector,” said PI Gad.
“Police will take necessary action on receipt of the findings from the Deputy Collector,” he said. “The bodies have been handed over to their respective parents. The parents have identified the handwriting on the suicide note, which was found in the flat, as that of Dilip Kumar,” said PI Gad.
