ponda: Speaking at the concluding function of the 67th Cooperative week, which was held in Ponda on Friday, Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude said in order for Cooperative societies to become financially stronger, they should think of launching multi-purpose activities. He called on them to provide loans to dairy farmers, poultry farmers, fishermen etc.

To encourage the Cooperative movement, Gaude said the government will give various annual awards for achievements by societies and people working in the field. He added that they will be judged on how much they contributed to the upliftment of society.
He added that cooperative societies should not compete with each other but create their separate distinct identity through their initiatives.
He also called on depositors, shareholders to attend the annual general body meetings of the cooperative societies, so that they can take part in the discussions on solving problems, hurdles, improving their financial health and how to pull the society out of any crisis they may face.
He appealed to resource persons in the cooperative field to contribute and help the govt in bringing better changes in law, amendments given that they are in a better position to do so.
