A video that has surfaced from the event shows the 34-year-old officer interacting with Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, India’s Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal, and Additional Secretary (Gulf) in the Ministry of External Affairs Aseem R Mahajan shortly before the crash.

Wing Commander Syal, a resident of Kangra district’s Patiyalkar village, is survived by his wife—also an Indian Air Force officer—their six-year-old daughter, and his parents.
“The entire village is very sad today,” a relative said, describing the profound grief that has enveloped the community following the young officer’s untimely death.
