All the transferred officers has been restricted from availing any joining period or other leave before taking charge of the new posting.
Of 16 officers transferred, 11 are Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVI) and five are Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI).
The transfer order is allegedly due to the number of complaints received by the department and allegations against the officers.
Transport Director Arun Desai, however, said that the transfers are a routine exercise. “Earlier department transferred officers every three years but from now onwards the department has decided to transfer its officers every two years,” Desai said.
He added that the other 20 per cent staff from the border check posts will be transferred within the next two or three days and following that Assistant Directors of Transport of all the taluka offices will be transferred.
Desai said the decision of change in transfer policy is in view that the officers may develop friendly relations with the people but refused to admit that it is based on serious allegations and complaints of corrupt practices at border check posts.
