PANJIM: Upset over Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch’s (BBSM) anti-government campaign, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar slammed the organisation for resorting to “election gimmicks” in view of 2017 State Assembly polls.
His reaction comes after a group of BBSM karyakartas greeted him with black flags at the LED bulbs distribution function at Karapur-Sarvan.
“Elections are approaching. What do they (BBSM) want to prove by showing black flags? Where have we lied on the Medium of Instruction (MoI)?” he asked.
Parsekar, who holds the Education portfolio reiterated that grants to over 130 Diocesan schools will not stop and that Goa government has not ignored Konkani and Marathi medium primary schools.
“We cannot stop giving grants to English primary schools. My government is giving preference to schools imparting primary education in Konkani and Marathi by starting 94 such schools,” he said adding that the government is working towards finding amicable solution to the issue.
