Committee formed for smooth sailing of the feast fair in Margao

MARGAO: In order to put in place the proper plan for the seven-day feast fair of Holy Spirit Church from June 5, Margao Municipal Council (MMC) commenced the demarcation of the stalls, and the advisory committee has been given the task of assure that the fair sail through smoothly. 

As per the order issued by Rohit Kadam, Chief Officer, the duty of the advisory committee includes demarcation and allotment of space of the vendors along with enforcing the rules and by-laws.

The five members advisory committee constituted under the ward councilor Francis Joanes will see to it that the condition of permission granted to different vendors intending to do business vide writ petition of 2010 of the High Court, and also to check with the sanitation and solid waste management facilities. 

On Wednesday, a team of the civic body along with the members of the committee were noticed engaged in the demarcation of the stalls to the vendors at the old market, Madel, and surrounding area. 

The feast fair of Holy Spirit Church, Margao has always been controversial in terms of the issues of sanitation, garbage, and parking, besides hardships to the local residents.  

Councillor had also brought to the notice of the CO that vendors fail to take care of the garbage and sanitation. Parking has been another big problem over here pertaining to the feast fair and locals want proper management in this regard.
