PANJIM: In separate drug raids in the northern coastal belt, the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) teams arrested a driver constable, a Russian national and mother-son for alleged possession of drugs.
In the first case, Vinod Malvankar (41), police driver Constable attached with Escorts Cell, was caught red handed in possession of suspected charas, weighing 10 gms during an early morning raid at Chapora on Saturday. The seized contraband is valued at around Rs 5,000. He has been arrested and sources said the department is likely to issue his suspension order by Monday.
The second raid saw arrests of Pratiksha Konatkar (42) and her son Ronit (23) for alleged possession of a cocktail of drugs worth Rs 30,000 approx. Information by the raiding team reveals that the mother-son, residents of Anjuna were caught with suspected MDMA (1.798gms), cocaine (0.936gms) and charas (5.135gms) along with cash of around Rs 3 lakh and gold ornaments (958.62gms) amounting to approx Rs 25 lakh.
The investigation team arrested them. “We are interrogating to find out the source of drugs and to whom they were supposed to sell. It is also being probed if the cash and gold were in exchange of drug peddling activity,” an officer said.
In the third raid at Morjim, the ANC sleuths arrested Andre Alexandre Sozilove, a 30-year-old Russian. He was found with drugs worth Rs 2 lakh at his rented premise in the coastal belt.
