Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today reiterated his government stand viz-a-viz four laning of the NH4A, saying the State will try it best to minimize the demolition of structures along the highway.
“I have written to the Union Minister of Road and Surface Transport (MoRST) Kamal Nath asking him to reduce the width of the proposed road from 60 meters to 45 meters,” Kamat said while addressing a press conference.
He said the minister has given a positive signal and hopefully things will work out well.
“During my visit to Delhi I also met the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) chairman and requested him to visit Goa and survey the structures himself,” he stated.
When asked to comment on Nath’s statement a few day’s ago saying that whichever states who fail to acquire land will be left out of the four-laning projects, Kamat said, “it was just a general statement.”
“In case of Goa they have already floated the tenders and only the work order has to be given,” he said.
