MARGAO: Frank Viegas was elected unopposed as Sarpanch of Chinchinim-Deussua Village Panchayat at the meeting held on Monday.
During the meeting, Frank was unanimously elected as the new Sarpanch with support of 11 members.

Speaking to media persons, Viegas stated that their motto is to keep the village green and clean with good governance.
He expressed his commitment to environmental sustainability and effective management to ensure the well-being of all residents
Recently, Valentino Barretto stepped down from the sarpanch’s post, leading to an election for his successor.
“We are in urgent need of a new panchayat ghar, which the villagers have been demanding from the government. Our current panchayat ghar is in a pathetic condition, with inadequate space for proper functioning,” Viegas stated.
He emphasised that development is an ongoing process, and assured that he would continue to carry forward ongoing and future developmental works.
Viegas assured to take up the panchayat ghar issue on top priority. The focus will be on improving infrastructure and ensuring effective governance to meet the needs of
the community.
The newly elected Sarpanch stated that the government should not impose unwanted projects like National Highway 66 on their village.
“The government should not divide the villages with projects such as NH 66. The villagers of Chinchinim have already resolved to oppose the project, and the government needs to respect their decision,” Viegas said.
Deputy sarpanch Sharmila Gracias appreciated former sarpanch Valentino Barretto for his efforts in fostering unity among the panchayat members.
“We have high hopes from the newly elected sarpanch to lead our village towards modernisation,” she added.
