PANJIM: The State Transport Department on Monday issued a challan to the vehicle of a Gujarati MLA for having tampered with the registration plate, sending a strong signal that the law is common to all.
An officer of the Transport Department said the vehicle was moving in Panjim when the enforcement cell team led by Motor Inspector Francis Vaz noticed the registration plate and detained the car and issued a fine of Rs 2000 for tampering with the number plate.
“Law is common for all, public should not tamper with registration plates as it is violation of Motor Vehicle Act. There is a need of awareness and such acts shall not go unpunished,” an officer said.
