PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Sunday stated that the Kranti Maidan will be inaugurated on December 18, while the Kala Mandir would open to the public on August 15 or December 19.
Dhavalikar along with Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar inspected the renovation work of Kranti Maidan Ponda and said it will be inaugurated on December 18.
“The development projects in Ponda will be completed on the declared dates as in recently held Cabinet meeting. The government has decided to provide fund and complete the pending project in the State,” stated Dhavalikar.
Later addressing media persons, Dhavalikar said efforts will be made to complete Kala Mandir project and it will be open to public either on August 15 or December 19, this year.
Dhavalikar said now there is no controversy on this project and councillors are supporting the project. “So far, about Rs 2.80 crore has been spent and estimate that the cost might reach Rs 4.50 crore to complete the work. The main aim is to make known to the future generation the contribution of martyrs and information will be displayed on pillars erected,” he said.
Dhavalikar also inspected the renovation work of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir. GSIDC President and Sanquelim MLA Dr Pramod Sawant and Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar were present.
Dhavalikar while addressing media persons at Kala Mandir, declared probable dates of inauguration on August 15 or December 19. “I feel very bad for the people, dramatists and triatrist who were inconvenienced in the absence of a theatre in Ponda,” he said.
“MGP had assured in its manifesto in the last assembly election that it will complete Rajiv Kala Mandir within two years, but it was delayed due to shortage of funds after closure of mining, which hit badly the State’s revenue generation,” he added.
He said in the recently held cabinet meeting, the government has made provision to provide fund for pending projects in Goa.
“Most of the work at Kala Mandir is completed. Installation of chairs, air condition and other work are yet to be complete,” he said.
The PWD minster also inspected the development work of Bandora Kashimath ground constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore and said it will be inaugurated on May 24.
