Mind blowing acts by Indian defense personnel’s, Royal Band and media boycott marked centenary celebration of Corps of Signals, today.
The function held at 2 Signal Training Centre, Headquarter in Bambolim to mark the 100 glorious years of Corps of Signals, saw media boycotting the official press conference supposed to be addressed by Signal Officer in Chief Lt Gen P Mohapatra.
The delay by the officials to address the press conference forced media persons to walk out.
Not just this, the media was upset after they alleged ill-treatment at the venue by the defense officials.
Media people claimed that they were given backseats from where they could hardly see any activity. The photographers and the cameraman from the electronic media were forced to jump from one place to other, in the lack of proper media arrangements.
Earlier, the Centenary Celebrations had mind-blowing adventure with shows by various teams including Army Skydiving team, Corps of Signals Display Teams, Military Band and others.
The show, which began with the silent drill, the only team of the Indian Army formed by Corps of Signals in December 2009, had breathtaking sequence by Corps of Signal’s Daredevil team, who have the credit of ten world records since 1991.
The performances were honoured by giving away the awards at the hands of Chief Minister Digamber Kamat.
Apart from this, Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art of southern India, Taekwando, a Korean martial art was also performed for the two hour long show.
The function concluded with Band Display by Corps of Signals band and Corps of Engineers band, who played songs like ‘Sare Jaha Se Achha’ and ‘Kadam Kadam badaye ja’.
