PORVORIM: Pilerne-Marra Panchayat has decided to collect plastic on door-to-door basis from March 1, even as few villagers attended the gram sabha on Sunday.
Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodker informed this when the issue came up for discussion.
Sarpanch Bandodker said though the industrial estate comes under the jurisdiction of Pilerne Panchayat they do not earn revenue from the industries. “IDC pays royalty to the tune of Rs 20 lakh to the panchayat every year. The panchayat propose to send a letter to the IDC demanding substantial raise in the royalty amount,” informed the sarpanch.
The villagers complained that several potholes have developed on the internal roads of the villages and demanded repairs. They also said sewage water from the building in the village flows in the nallas, which should be stopped forthwith from health point of view. The issue of migrant workers in the village was also discussed. The sarpanch assured to look into these problems.
In regard to development of ground adjacent to the panchayat, the sarpanch said the ground is still in the possession of Block Development Office Mapusa and as soon as it is handed over to the panchayat, the panchayat will take further action. “The panchayat has applied to the Town and Country Planning department for permission to fill the ground,” added the sarpanch.
Panchayat Secretary Premanand Mandrekar presented the budget estimates for the year 2014-15. The total receipts during the financial year are shown as Rs 1.11 crore, out of which the expected grants from the government, has been indicated as Rs 43 lakh and income by way of taxes Rs 16.50 lakh and fees Rs 28.60 lakh. On the expenditure front, Rs 60.50 lakh has been earmarked for public works, Rs 32.0 lakh has been allocated for sanitation and public health, Rs 27.36 lakh has been shown as administrative expenses and Rs 12 lakh for planning and development.
Earlier, the panchayat secretary read the minutes of the last gram sabha, while Ajay Govekar proposed the vote of thanks.
